Real Life Applications

As an education major, taking part in Lakeland Stars has given me a lot that I can apply in real life. It has given me experience working with children in age groups that i haven't previously worked with. It also showed me how younger children interact with each other when they think that an authority figure is not around. I can definitely use that when I become a teacher. I will be able to better understand what may be going on, if there is bullying, or if a student is having trouble with their work. My work on communication will help me as well, because I have improved at being able to ask for help and sharing my concerns. Lakeland STARs as also helped me to prioritize better, because in the spring semester I actually ended up building my schedule around it. It has also shown me how much I care about these children's education and that I am on the right track as an education major. It has reinforced my aspirations towards becoming a teacher and working with children.
